Ingredients

·150g butter

·175g caster sugar

·2 eggs

·4 heaped tsp cocoa powder

·75g dark chocolate, melted (no less than 72% cocoa)

·3/4 tsp chilli powder (can be more or less depending on how spicy you want the brownies to be)

·3 tsp cinnamon

·1/2 tsp honey

·150g plain flour

·Chilli flakes (for decoration)

·Icing sugar (for decoration)

·Vanilla Ice cream (for side dish with brownie)

Method

1. Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 5/180C and grease a medium square tin.

2. Mix the butter, sugar, chilli powder, cinnamon and honey in a large mixing bowl until it has a smooth consistency.

3. Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Make sure that the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. (If you have a more preferable way of melting chocolate that is fine)

4. Add the melted chocolate to the mixture and beat the eggs in one at a time.

5. Carefully fold in the flour and cocoa powder. Pour the mixture into the pre-greased brownie tin and then place in the oven to cook for 40mins or until firm.

6. Leave to cool in the tin and then cut into squares.

7. Decorate with chilli flakes and/or icing sugar.

8. Enjoy the brownies either by themselves or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
